Yesterday’s daytrip to Anahuac NWR brought a quiet day of birding; but that was OK—I enjoy the day-in-the-life birding of the local Aves residents.
This cormorant was an expert fisherman, and as is common, seemed to struggle most with positioning her catch on her bill for “down the hatch” consumption. But her mom would be proud; she worked hard at polite dinner table manners, almost keeping her bill closed as she swallowed one big bite:
