The Snowy in the Surf

The Snowy Egret is a common year-round resident of the Texas gulf coast, Florida and even a summer resident of multiple land-locked U.S. states.  I see the Snowy most every trip to Brazos Bend and other coastal marsh and wetland habitats.  But for some reason I’m always surprised when sighting it on the beaches and shorelines of the Gulf of Mexico or saltwater bays.

I watched this Snowy Egret surf the gentle waves of Galveston Bay as it fished along the north shoreline of the Texas City Dike.  The lighting, the water and the elegance of this beauty made for a perfect moment.  The pictures tell the story:

  1. Great shots. Beautiful coloring in the lores and feet. RC
